Often, we hear from our customers that they very seldom share their Revit models with other disciplines. The arguments are usually that there’s too much information in the model, and that IFC is safer to use, or that there’s too much ‘company secrets’ in the model, too many unnecessary views, sheets or similar.
There’s a simple solution to remove unwanted information in the model so you easily can share it without these obstacles mentioned above. A project cleanup. Not only will it make you able to share your model with only the information you want to share, it will also improve model performance and reduce the file size.
With project cleanup you can remove unnecessary views, sheets and other categories from your model to improve performance and reduce the file size.
The feature can be applied both to work-shared projects and to non-work-shared projects.
This is default setting, you specify new filename and output folder for a cleaned-up project. Then choose what you want to clean-up from "options part" in dialog box, and "confirm" that you want to clean-up the project. All changes will be applied to copied project; and the current project will not be changed.
This option is for when you want to preserve existing work sets when clean-up a work-shared project as a copy. Cleaned-up project will be detached and saved as a new central model.
This option let you discard the existing work sets when clean-up a work-shared project as a copy. The cleaned-up project will be detached, as well.
Enable this feature by un-selecting the "save as a copy" option in the dialogue box. Then confirm if you want to continue. Choose the categories you want to delete and clean-up the project. Note! All changes will be applied to currently opened project, so be careful when using this option.
The dialogue box options part lists views, sheets, and other categories that can be deleted from the current project. Select the check boxes to indicate what to clean-up from the project.
Using these options, it is possible to delete renderings from your project. Since renderings are views, you can add NVPurge parameter to them and use it for cleaning up your project.
If delete model views or delete model sheets are selected together with delete images - unused, then images that are placed on these views/sheets will be deleted from the project as well.
You can transfer saved project clean-up settings between projects with the transfer settings feature.
